KILIMANJARO NATIONAL PARK
For those of you not wishing to undertake the gruelling climb to the summit but still wishing to experience some of the natural beauty on offer in Kilimanjaro National Park, this trip is for you. You will be picked up from your hotel in Moshi and transferred to the Marangu Gate of the National Park (approx. 30-40 min drive). For the day trip you will effectively be doing the first day of the total climb- through the lush rainforest ecosystem. From the Marangu gate, accompanied by your professional mountain guide, you will hike to the Mandara Huts, at an altitude of 2700m. You will stop here for lunch and then take a short walk to view the Maundi crater, from where you can see the view of both the Mawenzi peak and Kibo peak (the summit). This hike, suitable for anyone of average fitness, takes approximately 3 hours each way. You will have plenty of time to stop and take in the variety of fauna and flora found in the national park, including the Black and White colobus monkey and the Kilimanjaro passion flower, unique to the ecosystem of Kilimanjaro. Following your hike you will return to the gate at Marangu and be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi (arrive in approximately 5pm).
Included: Professional mountain guide, park entrance fees, lunch, water, transport to and from the gate of the national park. What you need to bring: comfortable walking shoes (hiking boots not necessary), lightweight rain jacket, sun hat and sunscreen. LAKE CHALA

MATERUNI WATERFALLS
Materuni Village – Coffee and Waterfalls Day Trip Materuni village is a beautifully lush area to visit on the outskirts of Moshi. Here you can really get to grips with the life of the local Chagga people- wandering through the village and passing their homesteads. Located in the picturesque foothills of Kilimanjaro, Materuni has managed to retain its authentic edge over some of the other tourist attractions as it is not one of the routes for climbing Kilimanjaro.
For your day trip you will have two options for transport between Moshi town and the village… For those who really wish to have the ‘real’ experience you can hop on a dala dala (the local minibuses), along with your guide and possibly a chicken or two! If you’d prefer to travel more quickly and comfortably you can choose to take a private car.
Once you reach the village you will start your coffee tour at a traditional Chagga ‘shamba’ (farm).
TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Pick up from your hotel in Moshi at 6:30am and drive to Tarangire National Park (approx. 3 hr drive) for a game drive with the opportunity to see large groups of elephants that make this national park famous. Tarangire is home to many large iconic Baobab trees, giving you some picture perfect African landscapes. You will enjoy a picnic lunchbox inside the park during your game drive before you commence your return to Moshi mid afternoon (arriving approx. 5-6pm).
Included: Transport in safari land-cruiser with open roof for wildlife viewing, safari guide, lunchbox, water (1.5ltr bottle/person), park entrance fees including VAT.
Not Included: Sodas, alcoholic beverages, tipping for guide, government imposed changes on park fees.
